Verkado Mode

What is Verkado Mode?

Verkado mode displays multiple sections as a continuous, scrollable document:
- Each section appears in its own editor
- Visual dividers separate sections
- Section headers show which content belongs to which section
- Word counts are combined across all selected sections

This is ideal for:
- Reviewing narrative flow across chapters
- Editing transitions between scenes
- Checking consistency across sections
- Copy/paste between adjacent sections

Entering Verkado Mode

  1. Click on a section in the binder
  2. Shift-click on another section
  3. All sections between your clicks are selected
  4. The editor switches to Verkado mode

Selected sections are highlighted with a colored left border in the binder.

The Verkado Interface

Title Bar

Shows the first and last section titles:

Chapter 1 … Chapter 3

This title is read-only while in Verkado mode.

Section Headers

Each section displays an H2 header with its title above the content.

Dividers

Gradient lines visually separate sections. These are non-editable markers.

Combined Word Count

The footer shows the total word count across all selected sections.

Editing in Verkado Mode

Each section has its own independent editor:
- Edit any section normally
- Changes save automatically
- Each section saves independently
- Word count updates for all sections

Copy and Paste

You can copy text from one section and paste it into another within Verkado mode.

Independent Saving

Each section has its own autosave:
- Edit Section 1 - it saves after 1 second
- Edit Section 2 - it saves independently
- No need to wait for one section to save before editing another

Disabled Features

While in Verkado mode, some inspector panels are unavailable:
- Search - Disabled (search works on single sections)
- Section Details - Disabled (multiple sections selected)
- Version History - Disabled (snapshots are per-section)

These buttons appear dimmed in the inspector rail.

Available panels:
- Goals
- Book Details
- Editor Settings

Exiting Verkado Mode

Click on any single section in the binder to exit Verkado mode:
- All sections save automatically
- The editor returns to single-section view
- Binder highlighting clears

Selection Tips

Selecting a Range

  1. Click the first section
  2. Hold Shift
  3. Click the last section

All sections between (inclusive) are selected.

Selecting Non-Adjacent Sections

Currently, only contiguous ranges are supported. You cannot select sections 1, 3, and 5 without also selecting 2 and 4.

Best Practices

  1. Review transitions - Check how one section flows into the next
  2. Consistency check - Ensure character names and details match across sections
  3. Pacing review - Read through multiple sections to feel the story's rhythm
  4. Scene breaks - Verify scene breaks work well between sections
  5. Create snapshots first - Before major cross-section edits, snapshot important sections

Use Cases

Checking Chapter Flow

Select all scenes in a chapter to read them as a continuous narrative.

Editing Transitions

Select two adjacent sections to smooth the transition between them.

Reviewing an Act

Select multiple chapters to review a story act's pacing and structure.

Cross-Referencing
