  • Writing Record: Every project keeps a local record of how the book was written: the sessions, and where each save’s words came from (typed, pasted, AI rewrites in and out, AI copyedits, a connected agent, imports, restores).   • Story Timeline: Scenes can be dated in the story’s own calendar (ordinary, Julian, or the author’s invented one) at any precision from a year to a minute, and viewed as a chronology, a to-scale timeline, a subway map of who meets whom and a scene-by-character matrix, across every book in a series. Rule-based continuity checks flag characters on stage before birth or after death, anyone in two places at once and broken timing rules. Events can live off the page without touching the manuscript. Boilerplate

Verkilo is a desktop writing app for fiction authors, built around the way a series actually gets written. One program covers the manuscript work: drafting, and keeping characters, locations and story details straight across every book. It also covers the production work: print interiors and store-ready ebook files, with no separate design software.

Verkilo has no AI built in. There is no model inside it and no generate button, and nothing is on unless the writer chooses otherwise. Writers who want editorial help bring their own, either a key for a provider they already trust or an assistant they connect, and get continuity checks and line-editing notes. It never writes prose. Every project keeps a Writing Record of how the book was written, session by session, with each save’s words attributed to typing, pasting, an accepted AI rewrite, an AI copyedit or a connected agent, exportable for anyone who asks. Manuscripts are files on the author’s computer, not records in someone’s cloud, and nothing is sent anywhere except where the writer points it. None of it sits behind a monthly plan. Verkilo is a one-time purchase.
