Verkilo 1.6

The data sovereignty release: your whole project, in formats you own.

  • Export everything as Markdown. Project ▸ Export Data turns your entire project into a folder of plain Markdown files: every scene’s full text, characters, locations, your notebook, images included. Open the folder as an Obsidian vault, feed it to an AI assistant, or keep it as an archive nothing can lock you out of. Scenes are tagged by the characters and places in them, and your [[links]] work in Obsidian too.
  • Export everything as a website. One click builds a private website of your whole project: every book scene by scene, every character and place, your notebook. It opens in any browser, on any computer, with no internet and no Verkilo required. Character pages even map who feels what about whom, book by book, in both directions.
  • Mentions and links now read like prose. A character mention shows just the words you chose beside a small portrait. A notebook link shows its text beside a bookmark. Click any of them to jump to the record, change the wording, or remove the link. The sentence stays a sentence.
  • Tables survive export. A table in your manuscript now arrives intact in every format: a true table in Word, a typeset table in your PDF, a clean table in EPUB and Markdown.
  • Archive, don’t delete. Finished books can be archived separately from the Trash: out of the working shelf, one click to bring back. The archive and trash actions live in a tidy menu on the book page.
