- Use the AI you already pay for. Verkilo’s AI features now work with OpenAI and Google as well as Anthropic. Add a key for whichever service you have an account with, then pick a model for each operation from one list: line editing, continuity checks, scene summaries. Choosing the model is the whole decision. Verkilo uses the right account automatically. Nothing changes if you already have a Claude key: it carries over on its own, and everything keeps working exactly as before.
- Cheaper options for the bulk work. Some AI jobs are judgment calls and some are just legwork. You can now spend accordingly. Keep the most capable model for line editing your prose, and run scene summaries or a whole-book continuity pass on something a tenth the price.
- Clearer answers when a run doesn’t finish. If a response is cut short because you selected too much, Verkilo now says so and suggests fewer sections, instead of reporting a confusing parse error. If a request is declined, or your account is out of credit, it says that too, and tells you which service to check.
