Clear everything but the words
Focus Mode clears the screen; Composition Mode dims all but your active line.
The hardest part of drafting is leaving what you already wrote alone. Verkilo has two ways to quiet everything but the sentence in front of you.
Focus Mode
Everything you track is one keystroke away, and out of sight while you draft.
- Collapse both sidebars so the page fills the screen
- Typewriter scrolling keeps your active line centered, not sinking to the bottom
- Less looking down, less hunching over a laptop
Composition Mode
Go a step further and quiet the text itself.
- Every paragraph dims except the one you’re writing

Common questions
- How are Focus Mode and Composition Mode different?
Focus Mode clears the screen around your manuscript. Composition Mode works inside the text itself, dimming everything but your active paragraph. Use them together.
- What is typewriter scrolling?
The line you’re writing stays in the middle of the screen and the text moves around it, the way paper rolls through a typewriter, so you’re never typing at the bottom edge.
- Do I lose access to my notes and Series Bible?
No — they’re just hidden. One keystroke brings the sidebars back, and another sends them away again.
